LETTER FROM OUR vice president of recruitment
Welcome to Northeastern Panhellenic Recruitment!
My name is Rebecca Jones and I am the Vice President of Sorority Recruitment. I will be your liaison and navigator throughout the recruitment process. As the countdown to the semester has reached its end, and classes and other extracurricular activities begin to loom over your free time, I know that you may be wondering, “Why should I go out for sorority recruitment?” I, and many of the women in Panhellenic, remember feeling the same way when I was a freshman. When I first arrived on campus, I was immediately overwhelmed by number of students and I began missing the small, tight-knit community that I had left.
I had been told by girls at orientation tabling that joining a sorority meant always seeing friendly faces around campus and truly feeling like you are a part of something. Initially I didn’t think sororities could possibly offer me that much, but I was wrong. Sorority life at Northeastern means being a part of a community through service, scholarship, leadership, and sisterhood. However, more importantly, it’s a way to meet lifelong friends. Since joining, not just my chapter but the Panhellenic community as a whole, I have been surrounded by strong, intelligent women who inspire me everyday. I have found women to share the ups and downs of life with, whether it’s making chocolate covered strawberries for Bachelor Mondays, venting to each other about whatever is on our minds, or encouraging each other to just keep going during finals week. Northeastern Panhellenic has sisters on the Dean’s List, working at Fortune 500 companies and major hospitals, and volunteering around the world. We are a community of women dedicated to academic excellence, leadership, and service and we have the support of those around us to do everything that we set our minds to.
Deciding to go out for recruitment was one of the best decisions that I ever made during my time at college and I know that my life will always be positively impacted. I hope that you find this opportunity as rewarding, enlightening, and inspiring as I have.
