On June 8, 1989 the Gamma Mu chapter of Sigma Delta Tau eagerly became part of the Northeastern University Panhellenic community, and the chapter has since grown to heights the founders would have only dreamed of. The Gamma Mu chapter has been the home away from home for hundreds of women at Northeastern who find happiness, encouragement and never-ending sisterhood.

During high school I had never imagined myself joining a sorority. But when freshman year rolled around, I found myself lost and without a home base, despite all the wonderful things Northeastern had to offer me. I yearned to be apart of something larger than myself and that is what I found in Sigma Delta Tau. I was given life lessons, mentors, roommates, friends, older sisters, younger sisters, family, love, inspiration, empowerment. The greatest thing about Sigma Delta Tau is its absolute ability to turn the worst day of your life into your greatest. This has personally happened to me. I also am lucky enough to say that Sigma Delta Tau makes all my really great days into better ones.

Joining a sorority was one of the best choices I’ve made at Northeastern. I’ve gained 100 friends that I know I can count on for anything I need. I’ve also been pushed out of my comfort zone by these amazing women and always encouraged to go above and beyond. I am a better person for being in Sigma Delta Tau.
